Present a News Item!
- Please find an INTERESTING and lengthy news item from
the newspaper/radio/television news. Your topic shoud have
an academic focus.
- You need to summarise your news item in your own words
and present it to the class. Your presentation shoul last for
approximately 10 minutes.
- During the presentation all students should listen carefully to
the news item and think about questions and issues that can
be raised after the news item has been presented. Think about...
How does this relate to me? What are the implications of this news
item? Do i have any questions about any of the details?
- Remember this is an time for everybody to share ideas and
to ACTIVELY participate in a discussion about this news item.
Everyone will be expected to share their opinions and take
part in the discussion - much like a university tutorial session.
- There are several things that we are focusing on in this activity.
These are :
1. listening
2. note taking
3. speaking in front of a group
4. leading a discussion
5. taking part in a discussion
6. sharing ideas
7. expressing out opinions on a topic
